Complete Coverage in Five Easy Steps
The Metal Roofing System is easy
to install and won't disrupt your business or work. Here's
how this innovative system works:
Step
1: Surface preparation
Loose rust and scale are removed by wire brushing, scraping,
or sandblasting. All field-applied coatings must be removed.
Galvanized metal surfaces are acid etched to remove oil,
dirt and debris and are thoroughly rinsed with water, and
allowed to dry completely. Rusty areas are primed.
Step 2: Caulking
All end laps, screw heads, washers and openings are sealed
with Kwik Kaulk, Conklin's acrylic caulking compound.
Step 3: Treating the seams
The base coat and Spunflex fabric reinforcement or Conklin
3" butyl tape are applied along all vertical panel
joints. Spunflex II or Conklin 6" butyl tape is used
on horizontal seams.
Step 4: Seal fabric reinforced joints
A second application of base coat over the fabric completes
the seam waterproofing.
Step 5: Energy efficient finish coat
A final white reflective top coat is applied over the entire
roof. Conklin's Metal Roofing System will adhere to bare
steel primed with Metal Ready, Conklin's rust inhibiting
metal primer, galvanized steel and aluminum metal decks.
